A COLLECTIVE EFFORT

NYAWC will bring together our supporters, new and old, to nourish our bodies and spirits with food from our cultures. Anti-violence work requires many hands, great collaboration, and tenacious optimism. We want to take this opportunity to celebrate and fuel our community of advocates with hearty nourishment and lively company.

EVENT FEATURES

NYAWC's fabric is made of and created by the NYC pan Asian communities we serve. Food and drink are unifying forces of our cultures.

NYAWC’s Harvest will feature a formidable collective of NYC chefs. Join us for a special pan Asian tasting menu and meet the chefs whose talent in the kitchen is matched only by their philanthropic spirit.

WHO WE ARE

NYAWC is NYC’s community vanguard for Asian survivors of domestic and sexual violence, human trafficking, and elder abuse. Our philosophy is simple. We exist to help survivors of violence empower themselves to heal, create safe spaces where they can help themselves and each other, and lend our collective voice to educating communities on what they can do to bring an end to violence.

WHO WE HELP

Annually, NYAWC helps over 1,000 survivors heal from abuse. The average woman NYAWC serves is in her thirties, a mother to two or more children, and straddling the poverty line. She likely has less than a high school diploma and speaks little English. NYAWC survivors wrangle with a set of obstacles unique to impoverished immigrant communities: language, cultural values, immigration status, and financial burden, to name a few. NYAWC services give women the tools to help them overcome these barriers.
